XEROX WORKFLOW PARTNERSHIPS DELIVER
BUSINESS EFFICIENCIES, BOTTOM LINE RESULTS TO CUSTOMERS

“Xerox’s FreeFlow Framework delivers a full range of Variable Information solutions”

CHICAGO, Oct. 11, 2004 – In today’s competitive business environment, companies are looking for ways to reduce costs, boost efficiency and keep customers happy. Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) and Lytrod Software, a Xerox Business Partner, are delivering digital printing workflow solutions to customers that do all of that.

Xerox’s Business Partner Program enables partners, like Lytrod Software, to develop workflow solutions within the framework of Xerox’s FreeFlow™ Digital Workflow Collection— the company's strategic initiative combining industry standards, partners, software and hardware to help customers increase revenue and optimize digital printing.

  • Lytrod specializes in software for variable-data document design, a tool to create personalized communications with information that varies from page to page. In tandem with Xerox’s VIPP technology—software that provides the resources necessary to turn data and images into variable documents for production printing—Lytrod’s products help customers in a variety of industries harness the power of personalized documents and one-to-one marketing pieces

The FreeFlow framework delivers flexibility for partners to assemble a full range of VI solutions that tap into a long heritage of Xerox expertise with transactional printing and color production printing,” said David Davis from INTERQUEST, LTD. “FreeFlow provides one common set of tools that providers can intergrate into their existing production environment, and equally important, into the environments of their customers.”

Lytrod Software has worked closely with Xerox for the past five years, and the partnership has resulted in numerous new workflow customers and installations of Xerox digital production printers. Two recent customers include:

  • Compassion International , an organization that helps needy children in more than 20 developing countries. The non-profit organization wanted to reach its children’s sponsors faster with letters, photos and information. It had an outdated document generation system in place that didn’t adequately support the organization’s growth plans, and it had to outsource document printing due to in-house limitations. By incorporating Lytrod’s Proform Designer—software that allows users to design Xerox VIPP-based variable documents and static forms through a drag-drop interface—with two DocuPrint 75 Printing Systems and two DocuColor 6060 Digital Production Presses, Compassion International can now produce high-quality sponsorship materials in-house and on-demand, reducing the number of children waiting for sponsorship and positively impacting the organization’s Unsponsored Children’s Fund. With its increased print capabilities, Compassion plans to grow the number of children it helps from 600,000 to one million.
  • Equitable Life & Casualty , a company providing life and health insurance through 3,600 independent agents nationwide. EL&C needed to expedite the turnaround time for agents to send customer communications and respond to customer inquiries and requests. The agents were working with a large repository of policy information that existed in numerous file formats, making the searching of comprehensive customer information impossible. In addition, any printed customer communications required agents to manually attach photocopies of insurance information to pre-printed policy statements. Using Lytrod Proform Designer, Xerox VIPP Thin Printer and a Xerox 92c Highlight Color Printer, EL&C turned variable-data documents into electronic Adobe PDF format for proofing, Web presentment and printing. By migrating to an Adobe PostScript file format, document production went from a 30-day to a four-day turnaround time and has speeded customer response time to minutes instead of hours. Also, personalized documents are now sent to every client on demand, making all customer communications relevant to each policyholder.

“Xerox understands the value that companies working together and sharing their fields of expertise bring to customers,“ said Karin Lytle, vice president of marketing, Lytrod Software. “ Partnering with an industry-leader like Xerox has not only benefited our customers, but it has helped raise our profile in the industry and given us worldwide recognition for creating advanced electronic print resources.

At Graph Expo, in Xerox booth #1431, Lytrod Software will demonstrate several applications on a collection of Xerox digital printers that include the new DocuColor 8000 Digital Press and the flagship Xerox iGen3® Digital Production Press. These applications, created by Lytrod's Proform Designer, drive Xerox's VIPP workflow across monochrome, color and highlight color products for service bureau, public sector, financial and health care industries.
