Proform 97

Lytrod Software developed Proform97, the most complete FSL compiler, over 15 years ago and originally sold it as a "stand-alone" product. Proform97 supported the entire FSL command set, and gave the ability to design in any Grid Unit, even FMTs. Proform97 also supported the use of Sections and supported all of the HFDL extensions. This compiler technology is the basis of Proform Designer's LCDS migration platform. In addition, Proform97 included a "reverse" compiler, which allowed conversion from the FRM format to the FSL format. This reverse compiler was unique in that it parsed the FRM, built tables, and then rebuilt the FSL. This “double pass” optimizing technique allowed for editable FSL constructs that would not be available if you simply converted one Metacode command to an FSL command.

When Lytrod Software launched Proform Designer, which is a Windows based product, Proform97, a DOS based product was taken off the market. Proform Designer included the functionality of Proform97 in addition to a very powerful GUI. Three years later Xerox customers expressed a need for a stand-alone FSL compiler, as the EPS engines only offer a JSL compiler. Lytrod created a Windows interface to Proform97 and re-released it as a stand alone product, supported on Windows 95 through Windows/7.

In 2005, Lytrod added full color Metacode support at the request of XSIS (Xerox Special Information Systems) as they launched a full color Metacode DFE, called SPECTRUM.
